Jameel Houses of Traditional Arts

The Jameel Houses of Traditional Arts

A key pillar of Art Jameel’s pioneering work to preserve tangible and intangible cultural heritage is the network of Jameel Houses of Traditional Arts. Centres for artisanship, heritage preservation and architectural discourse, the Jameel Houses of Traditional Arts have spread from Cairo (opened 2009), to Jeddah (2015), and now to the Dumfries House estate in Scotland (under development).

Anchored by academic programmes designed and delivered by the Prince’s Foundation School of Traditional Arts, the Jameel Houses also offer open programmes of short workshops, lectures, exhibitions, support for heritage-based entrepreneurs, and collaborations with artists and creatives that connect traditional crafts and heritage with contemporary materials and approaches and new technologies.

Information for students and participants

Information for prospective and current students and programme participants is set out on each Jameel House’s page.
