Alumni of the Jameel House of Traditional Arts / Jeddah will be showing a selection of works at KAUST as part of the Enrichment in the FallProgram. The Jameel House of Traditional Arts / Jeddah, an Art Jameel initiative, offers a one-year programme in the traditional arts delivered by tutors from the Prince’s School of Traditional Arts in London and by local master craftspeople in the old town of Jeddah.
A range of contemporary and traditional pieces are on show, from intricately-carved gypsum designs, to delicately-painted ceramic tiles, to a contemporary chair combining traditional mangour woodwork and modern plastic materials.
This is the first Jameel House of Traditional Arts exhibition to tour outside the old town of Jeddah and is a special opportunity for the KAUST community to learn about Jeddah’s rich – and living – artistic heritage.
The exhibition is open to the KAUST community, October 20-25, 10am-8pm. For more information, see here.
