Documenting Works of Art

The workshop is also part of the Photography Jameel’s autumn 2018 programme; includes events in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Khobar with the artist and photographer Waleed Marhoum. The workshop aims to document the works of art in terms of archiving and reproduction.

The participants will take both a theoretical and practical approach to the topic. There will be an explanation of the best possible way to photograph the works of art.

Join us in the following cities:

Riyadh, on October 18, 2018, 8-10pm at Gallery Naila; for registration please email info@gallerynaila.com

Jeddah, on November 1, 2018, 8-10pm at The Social Space; for registration please email photography@artjameel.org.

The two words that come to mind in describing Marhoum’s approach to his art are sensitivity and accuracy. Marhoum’s first love as a young boy was calligraphy and it remains a counterbalance and food for his soul visualising the alphabet in geometric forms. In 2005 however, Marhoum turned his attention to photography, which he used to show the way he perceives his community. In the end his true talent emerged with landscapes. Since then, Waleed Al Marhoum has enjoyed a favorable reception in the MENA region.
