Zine-making workshop

09 June, 2018

Location: Nadi Al Quoz, Alserkal Avenue, Dubai

10am-12pm

Inspired by Project Space Art Jameel’s current solo exhibition of Basim Magdy’s film: The Dent, photographer and filmmaker Reem Falaknaz holds together a special hands-on zine-making workshop for tweens.

The two-hours-long, free workshop is open to a maximum of 10 participants, ages 10-13.

Participants will work with the film’s subtitles focusing on developing the story of the circus elephant that features in the work. Employing drawing, collage and text, each participant will contribute a chapter to the zine interpreting the elephant’s journey resulting in a collective A5 book.

Key workshop takeaways focus on looking at art, storytelling and drawing.

As a photographer and filmmaker, Falaknaz travels throughout the Emirates, collecting and documenting the narratives of its inhabitants. Through her work she explores the UAE’s cultural composition and the transient nature of its residents.

Register by emailing u.kattan@alj.ae, limited space available.
